Day 2: Initiating an EMS based on ISO 14001
•Definition of the scope of EMS
•Definition of EMS policy and objectives
•Planning aspects of environmental management – legal/regulatory and impact issues
•Drafting an EMS
•Drafting an environmental policy
•Developing and delivering meaningful objectives and targets
Day 3: Implementing an EMS based on ISO 14001
•Implementation of a document management framework
•Design of controls and writing procedures
•Analyzing and implementing operational processes and controls
•Emergency preparedness and response process
•Development of a training & awareness program and communicating about the Environmental
•Operational management of an EMS
Day 4: Controlling, monitoring,measuring and improving an EMS;the certification audit of an EMS
•Controlling and monitoring an EMS
•Development of metrics and performance indicators and dashboards
•ISO 14001 Internal Audit
•Management review of an EMS
•Implementation of a continual improvement program
•Preparing for an ISO 14001 certification audit
•Plan for registration with the certification body
Day 5: Certification Exam
Prerequisites
ISO 14001 Foundation Certification or a basic knowledge of ISO 14001 is recommended
Educational approach
•This training is based on both theory and practice:
oSessions of lectures illustrated with examples based on real cases
oPractical exercises based on a full case study including role playings and oral presentations
oReview exercises to assist the exam preparation
oPractice test similar to the certification exam
•To benefit from the practical exercises, the number of training participants is limited
Examination and certification
•The “Certified ISO 14001 Lead Implementer” exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Programme (ECP). The exam covers the following competence domains:
